ISF Filing Checklist

Verify you have all required data elements before submitting your Importer Security Filing (10+2) to CBP.

ISF Filing Requirements

ISF must be filed at least 24 hours before the vessel departs for the U.S. (72 hours recommended). Failure to file or late filing can result in penalties of $5,000 - $10,000 per violation. This checklist helps you verify you have all required information — actual filing must be done through a licensed customs broker or ABI system.

ISF-10 Required Data Elements

Check off each item once you have the required information ready

Seller Name & Address

The owner of the goods at the time of sale, or the party who sold the goods to the buyer.

Required: Company/individual name | Complete address | City | Country

Buyer Name & Address

The party who purchased the goods from the seller.

Required: Company/individual name | Complete address | City | Country

Importer of Record Number

The U.S. party responsible for paying duties and ensuring compliance.

Required: IRS number, EIN, SSN, or CBP-assigned number | Full name and address

Consignee Number

The party to whom the goods are shipped and who will take ownership.

Required: IRS number, EIN, SSN, or CBP-assigned number | Company name

Ship To Party

The physical location where goods will be delivered after customs release.

Required: Company/facility name | Complete U.S. address with ZIP code

Manufacturer (or Supplier)

The entity that last manufactured, assembled, produced, or grew the commodity.

Required: Factory/supplier name | Complete address | City | Country

Container Stuffing Location

The physical location where goods were loaded into the shipping container.

Required: Facility name | Complete address | City | Country

Consolidator (Stuffer)

The party who loaded the container or arranged for the loading.

Required: Company name | Complete address | City | Country

Commodity HTSUS Number

The Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States classification code.

Required: 6-digit HTSUS code minimum (10-digit preferred) | One code per commodity type
10

Country of Origin

The country where the goods were manufactured, produced, or grown.

Required: Country name or ISO code | One country per commodity type

Required: Vessel name | Voyage number | Estimated departure date | Port of discharge (U.S.)

Carrier Information

Required: SCAC code (4 letters) | Bill of Lading number | House or Master B/L indicator
